The couples retreat is upon us on Married at First Sight. Smash a wine glass on the table and let’s get crazy!

Monday’s nights drama saw the fallout from butt-dial-gate continue, as Harrison defended Dan and Hugo to a Rupert who couldn’t give two shits about Harrison’s approval. What a king!

Bronte found herself at odds with most of the other women for enabling Harrison, with Melinda referring to her as “naïve” which is apparently the worst thing someone can call another woman. Idk, Tayla might want to weigh in on that.

The episode was a low-key mess so let us try to make sense of it all via some truly great tweets.

Last night’s couples retreat on Married at First Sight recapped in funny tweets:

The couples are reflecting on Sunday’s commitment ceremony with Melinda still reeling from how much Harrison and Bronte kept inserting themselves into the drama. Meanwhile, Harrison is complaining to Bronte that Melinda has dulled Layton’s personality. This couple are too smug for words.

Despite her threats, Tayla has not left the experiment. Hugo pays her a visit to her apartment where she accused him of lying to the experts. She then invited him to move back in, even though she said in a confessional she merely told him what he wanted to hear.

It’s couples retreat time! The remaining contestants converge on a huge house in the Southern Highlands of NSW. As the group enjoy drinks together, Tayla brags to the women about how much sex she had with her ex. Hugo overhears it and says it’s a “slap in the face’ to him, as she refuses to be affectionate. Tayla then drops she’s been sexting with her ex.

The butt dial saga rears is ugly head. Harrison reckons he and Bronte tried to stage the butt dial to verify Evelyn’s claims it happened. Evelyn and Rupert defend themselves but Harrison blames them for Dan leaving the experiment.

When Harrison says he no longer trusts Rupert, he replied that he doesn’t care. Icon.

Evelyn then pivots to Bronte, saying that she often murmurs things to Harrison when Evelyn is speaking. The girls unite together to tell Bronte they feel judged by the couple. Bronte defends Harrison, saying he’s “an opinionated man”, and she’ll always have his back.

Melinda says that Bronte is losing herself in her relationship. Bronte replies that she “walked down the aisle to Harrison, not you.” Claire says he’s emotionally manipulating Bronte, as Melinda adds that she’s naive. In a confessional, Bronte says the other girls are jealous. Lyndall consoles Bronte, as she continues to defend Harrison.

The next day, for some reason Jesse is running around nude. Run Jesse, run! Bronte reflects with Tahnee on the night before and says she’s holding a grudge against Melinda. Tahnee relays that info to Melinda, telling her that Bronte wants an apology, but she ain’t keen.

Girls’ and boys’ night is upon us! Alyssa is in a bad mood after feeling neglected by Duncan. He tries to make amends, but she says that he should have checked in on her, however he replies that communication goes both ways.

Over with the girls, Alyssa reveals that Duncan is not her type which receives a chorus of “How?” from the girls… and me watching on. She then recaps their fight and look, it’s quite different to what actually played out.

Hugo tells the boys about the convo he overheard where Tayla spoke about her ex. Over with the girlies, tensions are high as Bronte says that Melinda’s naive comment was offensive. Melinda doesn’t know why she’s getting the brunt of Bronte’s blame.

Bronte is talking about moving in with Harrison. Evelyn thinks she needs an exorcism. Melinda and Evelyn regroup to agree that women should hold their friends accountable, before snooping on boys’ night. More on that next episode!
