After 37 episodes, over eight weeks of thrilling TV, and an immeasurable impact on all of our social lives, Married at First Sight came to a crashing end last night.

And it was a conclusion befitting one hell of a season. Couples called it quits (Selina and Cody), other couples stood stronger than ever (Jackson and Olivia/Mitch and Ella), footage was played exposing Carolina and Daniel’s affair, along with showing how Olivia often played fast and loose with the truth.

The most incriminating part was the scenes shown of Olivia telling the group that Dom had “fashioned a weapon”at girls’ night, and waved it in her face. This, of course, never happened and the footage had the group dumbstruck over Olivia’s fabrications. It was the vindication Dom deserved, and it felt great.

The finale was capped off with the season’s favourite couple, Dom and Jack, sitting on the couch as the experts asked if there was any chance at a reconciliation after the couple parted ways following final vows. Neither Dom nor Jack ruled it out, so we will have to cling to that for the rest of week to ease our collective heartbreak.

And stay tuned on the current relationship statuses of the couples, as we don’t have high hopes for Mitch and Ella.

The final episode of Married at First Sight retold via hilarious tweets:

Every MAFS contestant filed in for their final sit down with the experts. The first couple up was Ella and Mitch, who appear to be thriving since final vows. The same can’t be said for Selina and Cody, as the couple called it quits after the reunion dinner.

Al earned his own highlights reel. Tamara had to face all the judgemental things she said during the experiment attacking Brent, along with retail and hospitality workers. She then brought up Mitch’s drunk phone call, but he called “bullshit”.

Carolina and Daniel’s affair was played in front of the whole room, who were obviously left angered and disgusted. The controversial couple offered a non-apology, before John went in on them for their shameless behaviour.

After Jackson and Olivia gave their relationship update, the experts brought up Olivia’s feud with Dom. They played footage showing Dom smashing the glass, compared with Olivia telling the group she waved it in her face and claimed Dom “fashioned a weapon”.

The night ended with Dom and Jack reflecting on their journey. When asked if there was any hope of a reunion for the couple, Dom replied “never say never”.
