Jesse From ‘MAFS’ Claims His ‘Ick List’ Was A Stitch-Up By Producers

Jesse Burford from Married at First Sight is on a MISSION right now to clear his goddamn name.

Just last week, he went rogue in an interview, shading the MAFS producers for giving Claire an “angel” edit, despite the toxic behaviour he claimed she exhibited. Now he’s on one again, claiming he was completely stitched-up with his infamous ‘ick list’, which saw him get mercilessly roasted by viewers.

As a refresher, at the start of this year’s Married at First Sight (including in the promos), viewers were introduced to Jesse Burford’s ‘ick list’: a list of turn-offs and dealbreakers he had about women. The list received an understandably icy reaction from viewers for its (very) thinly veiled misogyny. It included putting down “chicks who pout”, women who are “vanilla”, addicted to their phones or “who are always talking”.

Jesse is now claiming that the idea for the infamous list came from producers, who took an inch and ran a mile with it.

In an interview with So Dramatic!, he stated that it was more an answer to a question he was asked, as opposed to a pre-existing list. “I sat in that interview for two hours. I told producers about my entire life, and they picked that 30 seconds where I pulled out a list that they asked me to write,” he told So Dramatic! podcast host Megan Pustetto.

He stated that producers asked him what he likes and dislikes in a partner. “So I was like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’ll just take some notes.’”

“There’s such a negative connotation to it,” he said about watching the final edit. “We all have things that we’re not attracted to… and they were mine.”

He added that he hates the ‘ick list’ title the series ran with, although admitted he can understand how it made him appear “stuck up”.

Well, there you have it. Another day, another diss to the producers of MAFS for creating this juicy, chaotic content for us.
