Jesse Has Gone Rogue And Savaged Claire’s Edit On ‘MAFS’

Much to the dismay of Married at First Sight fans everywhere, the end is in sight. But thankfully, because the reality TV gods are good, the drama is far from slowing down.

MAFS groom Jesse Burford may have already departed the reality series, but he has gone rogue on his TV wife, Claire Nomarhas, slamming her favourable portrayal on the show during a juicy new interview with the Daily Mail.

Jesse referred to Claire as a “super villain on a silver platter”, labelling her MAFS edit as “almost criminal”, claiming producers decided not to show a lot of the “crazy stuff” she was doing early on in their relationship.

“For some reason, they chose her to be the angel of the season,” he said. “The imbalance and the injustice, I can’t even explain it to you, man.”

The imbalance! The injustice! The horrors!

Seemingly forgetting how reality TV is produced, edited, cooked up and served to us on a dramatic platter, Jesse admits thinking to himself during filming “I don’t have to worry one bit about if I’m going to be a villain, because [Claire] just said some crazy stuff.”

The ‘villain slams villain edit’ take seems to be a hot one this year

Look, it’s true that mere weeks ago, we were shipping Claire and Jesse big time. This was us for real:

After initially coming across very poorly (never forget shush-gate and the ick list), Jesse got his redemption arc after navigating a really tricky situation when Claire cheated on him with Adam Seed. There’s no excuse for cheating, but some fans thought Claire was sick to death of the star sign slander (Jesse is a Cancer, which checks out) and his other toxic behaviours.

It seemed as though Claire and Jesse mutually decided to give things another shot after she kissed Adam, but Jesse now reveals this wasn’t the case. “My best friend, who was supposed to be my wife, fricking kissed another dude and then didn’t honour my request to leave, and made me freaking stay and have to endure a redemption arc for her,” he claimed.

Jesse revealed he was despo to leave the show after that, but he wasn’t able to. “You can’t just walk off set. You can’t just leave the apartments and catch your own flight, you can’t do that. They wave the contract in your face,” he said.

Jesse went on to say that from the get-go, he was getting big friend vibes between him and Claire, and the Married at First Sight producers could see it too. “It was obvious between production and myself and Claire that we’re just pretty much mates on the honeymoon and there’s no real romance,” he stated.

“I was the first to kind of bring that up with Claire [to start] what I was hoping to be a conversation.” He alleges Claire became “very defensive and very combative” during that convo, accusing Jesse of “gaslighting” her as their conversation progressed .

After truly ripping Claire to shreds in this interview, Jesse ended by saying that he stopped watching the show after the first four episodes (can’t relate).

That low-key means he didn’t get to see his own redemption. Alas, the life of a reality TV star is a chaotic one.

It seems as though Mama Ru wrote ‘Blame It On The Edit’ for these exact messy, messy moments.

Married at First Sight returns Sunday to Wednesday on Channel 9.
