Former Married at First Sight contestant, Jo Todd, has revealed she was let go from a hairdressing job because she would not get the COVID vaccine.

Reality TV fans will know Jo as the bubbly bride matched with James Susler, with the couple enduring a troubled marriage that didn’t make it far in the experiment. Overnight, Jo took to Instagram to tell her almost 50k followers that she’d lost her job of 12 years at a local barbershop in Karingal, Victoria. “I’m just jumping on here to reach out to all my regular clients and to the mums with the kids’ haircuts that I used to do in Karingal,’’ Todd said.

“Just letting you know, I won’t be going to be back to that shop anymore. I never thought I would lose my job over a vaccine but the positive thing is I’ve set up my own barber space, so anyone I used to cut or anyone who isn’t getting the vaccine, please hit me up, message me. I’ll be happy to cut your hair.”

She continued, “The new rules are you aren’t allowed to go to a barbershop without being vaccinated, so I’m happy to take the vaccinated or unvaccinated and still cut your hair.”

Jo’s refusal to get vaccinated comes as Premier Daniel Andrews announced last week what Victoria’s roadmap out of lockdown would look like when the state hits 70% double doses. When it comes to hairdressers and barber shops, salons are only open to five fully vaccinated patrons at a time.
