In a sea of clout-chasing brides and grooms on Married at First Sight, Josh White was one of the few contestants who seemed to be looking for good old-fashioned love.

But as fate would have it, Josh was matched with “freak in the sheets” bride Melissa Sheppard who he had practically nothing in common with. Drama ensued and Josh was one of the first grooms to leave the show after enduring weeks of torment about not being ‘man enough’ from his on-screen wife.

While the sweet-natured groom handled himself graciously throughout the show, he’s now spilled some serious tea in a recent AMA on Reddit about his time on MAFS.

During a lengthy Q&A session on forum Reddit, otherwise known as an AMA (Ask Me Anything), Josh fielded questions from superfans who asked everything from the sordid details of his ‘affair’ with costar Lyndall Grace to the bride he wished he was paired up with.

If you CBF scrolling through the 440+ comments on the thread, you’re in luck, because we’ve plucked out some of the juiciest bits and packaged them neatly up for you to quickly read in your next water cooler break.

The highlights from Married at First Sight groom Josh White’s Reddit AMA:

On his rumoured hookup with MAFS bride Lyndall:

If you’ve so much as skimmed through gossip articles about this year’s season of MAFS, you should be familiar with Josh and Lyndall’s rumoured fling. Nothing about the hookup was ever actually aired on the show, so if you need a refresher then buckle up.

Josh was paired with Melissa on the show and Lyndall was matched with Cameron Woods. Josh and Melissa’s relationship quickly fell apart after she consistently talked down to him and chastised him. Unsurprisingly, they exited the experiment early on.

Meanwhile, Lyndall and Cam started off strong but their relationship went down in flames in the latter half of the season. After being mistreated for weeks, Lyndall stormed out of the final vows ceremony before Cam had a chance to read his speech.

But the plot thickens, as reports emerged that Lyndall and Josh made out at a MAFS wrap party and that she later flew over to Perth to visit him. In the AMA, Josh explained that their romantic relationship began with “a conversation” and said that things “just kind of went from there,” but in another response, he claimed they “never dated” in an official capacity.

He said that their relationship has since ended. “We haven’t spoken since the end of January for the reasons rightly or wrongly explored by media at the time. I did send her a message last night but I didn’t expect a response,” he wrote.

“I will always look back on that period of time very fondly and I wish her, now, as I have always done, nothing but the very best in life.”

On the MAFS bride that he wishes he was matched with:

Ah, the question that every bride and groom who emerges from MAFS with a failed pairing is asked. While the question isn’t exactly surprising, Josh’s answer may be.

“I think Alyssa. We have kids. We live in Sydney. We’ve been married before,” he said. Josh clarified that there’s nothing happening between them, but didn’t share whether he’s had the chance to meet Alyssa’s son yet because ICYMI… she has a child!!!

Earlier this week, Josh shared a photo of him and Alyssa hugging on Instagram while defending her from the backlash she’s received from viewers of the show.

Josh made it clear that he doesn’t mean they’re together. “But to clarify, before this gets out of hand, we are just good friends,” he wrote in the AMA.

Sure, whatever you say, Josh.

On whether Tayla and Cam actually hooked up:

It goes without saying that the relationships on MAFS are so intricately intertwined that even a spider would get lost. Case in point: Tayla Winter and Cam’s bizarre relationship. As we already know, Cam was ‘married’ to Lyndall, but their relationship didn’t work out.

Tayla entered the show as an intruder paired with Hugo, but the two butted heads and quickly exited the experiment after the infamous ‘butt-dial’ fiasco went down.

Fast forward to the reunion episodes where it was revealed that Tayla and Cam had struck up a close relationship. The two admitted that they had a FaceTime call while Cam was at a nightclub and he got his dick out (??) for Tayla and other club-goers to see in all its glory.

Since then, it’s been speculated that Tayla and Cam have been secretly seeing each other. However, Josh shut that down. “I can confirm, to the best of my knowledge, that they never hooked up,” he said.

“There was the FaceTime call, which was in the reunion, which I did not think was sexting.”

On where he stands with his ex-wife Mel now:

It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that Josh and Mel aren’t exactly hanging out to grab a bevy and catch up on the latest MAFS goss. “We are not friends,” Josh confirmed.

“I had hoped with the passage of time that we could be friends, maybe, as I meant what I said at the reunion and I didn’t hold in ill will towards her for our time on the show.”

In the early weeks of the experiment, Mel accused Josh of faking “crocodile” tears at their final commitment ceremony in order to generate sympathy. She also shared a sweet text message with So Dramatic! that Mel says she sent to Josh after she watched the show back.

“The comments she said after the show aired were largely unforgivable,” Josh wrote in the AMA. “We were fine when we filmed at the reunion on the couch. She did not return from a toilet break and I was advised she wasn’t happy with what she saw — and she is perfectly entitled to feel that way.

“Since then, it’s quite obvious that she went to So Dramatic and ‘leaked’ what happened ahead of her episodes to seize the narrative, as well as did interviews after leaving the show to blame me and the edit,” Josh claimed.

“I have always maintained, the show only holds a mirror to how you behave, talk, interact etc, and you can either accept that or reject that.”
