Married At First Sight: A Dedication To Brent’s Best Man Levi
Married at First Sight is back, baby, and if the first episode is anything to go by, we’re in for a wild journey.
The premiere of MAFS saw two couples get hitched: Anthony and Selin, both single parents who are looking for their partners in crime, and Tamara and Brent.
It was Tamara and Brent who brought the fireworks, with the pair getting off on the wrong, ahem, foot* after Tamara assumed that Brent worked in a nightclub as a bartender.
(*Brent has a fear of feet for what it’s worth.)
Brent is actually a… *checks notes* hospitality specialist, but Tamara wasn’t thrilled when she thought he meant that he worked in clubs and pubs, saying it didn’t fit in with her lifestyle and ambitions.
Things came to a head at the reception dinner when Tamara went full Karen on us and started going on about how she wouldn’t date someone who worked at “a toy store”.
Enter Brent’s best man, Levi.
Levi, owner of a great smile and also my heart, entered the chat in defence of retail workers and basically handed Tamara a shovel to keep digging the hole she had gotten herself into.
Tamara said she was trying to work on not judging people after assuming Brent was a bartender, and Brent posed the question of what happened if he worked at a toy store. “You wouldn’t be very ambitious to me,” Tamara said in response. “I asked for someone who is ambitious and I want someone who has the same values that I have. Not because I think working in those kinds of industries is bad…”
“It just means they’re not ambitious?” Levi interjected.
“Well if that’s your goal, to stay in a retail job for the rest of your life and not progress…” Tamara said.
“What if someone needs money and they have no other way of getting it?” Levi asked.
“That’s fine, good on them, that’s just not me, if that’s you and that’s your goal… for where I’m going, that doesn’t meet my lifestyle,” Tamara answered.
“So you feel like someone who worked in retail would be a step down for you?” Levi said in response, which Tamara denied. “That’s what you just said!” Levi said.
Tamara then told a story about how she did date someone who worked in retail once and was embarrassed to introduce him to people.
Levi’s face said it all.
Fans of Married At First Sight were quick to praise Levi for sticking up for… normal humans with normal jobs.
Surely if the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s how valuable hospitality and retail workers are. They’re classified as essential workers for a reason!

Can we get Levi in every episode? I’d like to see him laughing at the dinner party when someone throws a wine. #mafs #mafsau #legend pic.twitter.com/DZmk8D3Ns8

We can go right ahead and swap out Tamara and Brent for Levi and Bridesmaid. She's already wearing his jacket #MAFS pic.twitter.com/g8NnT7L7DZ

Now if you’re wondering if Levi was passionately defending retail workers because he works for Toys R Us, the answer appears to be no. Looks like our man is a model with a heart of gold.

Sticking up for retail workers is hot, pass it on.
