Reynold Was Eliminated Over A Dessert Challenge On ‘MasterChef’ & Viewers Are In Mourning
MasterChef fans are in mourning after series fave and dessert king Reynold was eliminated in last night’s semi-final during a dessert challenge of all things.
On Sunday night’s episode, the final three contestants were tasked with recreating three-hatted chef Martin Benn’s super complex toffee apple dish. They had three hours and forty-five minutes to make the dessert which required a whopping 113 steps.
While Laura and Emelia’s cooks were fairly smooth, Reynold struggled with his apple which he made too small and then didn’t form his autumn leaves correctly.

When called to the judges’ table, Reynold broke down when asked what winning the season would mean to him. He spoke about how his family’s business was struggling due to coronavirus and he wanted to win in order to give back to his parents, who immigrated to Australia.

When it came to the results, it was obvious that Reynold was going home. The judges said that not only was his apple much smaller than Emelia and Laura’s, but his caramel was not as bitter as the original dish.
As Reynold was told that he would be leaving the competition, he was inconsolable — quite literally, because of social distancing measures no one could console him! It hurt so bad to watch Reynold look so upset while no one could give the poor guy a hug.
Reynold came to the 2020 season already a fan favourite, beloved for his complex and spectacular-looking desserts. He proved this season that not only could he make amazing sweet creations, but could serve up impressive savoury dishes as well. He is an absolute MasterChef legend.
Reynold’s fans were devastated to see him go:
I dead set thought I was going to learn how to walk before Reynold went home on a dessert challenge.. I’m shook #MasterChefAU

Reynold breaking down in tears over 3rd place is the saddest #MasterChefAU moment yet.
Reynold was booted out because his talent can't be contained into other chef's recipes, and that's ok. He was truly one of the most talented and inventive cooks to ever set foot in MasterChef

Fans have rallied around Reynold, declaring him the unofficial winner of the season.
There haven’t been any dishes of Emilia’s or Laura’s that have stuck in my memory. But Reynold has so many! He has pushed the boundaries and created art again and again that will be remembered for years to come. No matter what, Reynold is my winner! #MasterChefAU pic.twitter.com/Xw12mKS7t2
