Meet The ‘Saddest Dog In The World’ And See How The Internet Made Her Smile Again
A two-year-old pup in Canada has gone viral after an animal shelter posted photos of her with the caption ‘the saddest dog in the world‘.
The puppy named Lana had been living in the Toronto shelter since the age of 14 months, apparently scared of everything. Eventually the timid dog was adopted by a young family, however guarding instincts caused her to snap and bite the mother who decided Lana wasn’t the best fit for the family. Which is probably fair enough. But again, the baby was alone in a cell, still yet to experience love and meet a ‘best friend’.
As she returned to the shelter, Lana was completely guttered. She refused to go for walks, socialise with other dogs. She literally didn’t have any interest in moving. Desperate employees who tried to get her up and moving said “It’s almost like her world shut down.”
Taking to social media, they hoped someone might respond to Lana’s search for love:

The shelter’s image of Lana has caused a social media storm and the public response was so large that it crashed the shelters website and email server.
Thankfully the huge reaction quickly found Lana a new home and now she couldn’t look happier. A GoFundMe page dedicated to Lana and other dogs from Toronto’s Rescue Dogs Match has also collected nearly $15,000 in donations.
Now, thanks to interwebs, you get to see Lana smiling again!
