Every November, Melbourne Music Week takes over Australia’s coolest city with a packed program of performances, talks, conferences and more.

2016 was a huge year for the event — with luminaries like Zola Jesus, Anthony Fantano, The Drones and Briggs all speaking or performing — and by the looks of the just-revealed first program, 2017 is going to be just as big.

Highlights include Ariel Pink taking over Melbourne’s Recital Centre on November 21, for a special performance of his latest album Dedicated To Bobby Jameson

Ariel Pink is also locked in to speak at Face The Music conference — which takes place in the middle of MMW over November 23 and 24 — alongside industry names like SiriusXM host Marky Ramone, Toronto DJ Chippy Nonstop, triple j Music Director Nick Findlay, German FKP Scorpio promoter Silke Westera, and more.

As for the the actual music? A few of the best record labels in the biz — including Milk! Records, Wondercore Island and Aarght Records — will be teaming up for multi-level takeover of Melbourne’s Town Hall dubbed Miscellanea, with performances from HTRK, Underground Lovers, Tyrannamen, Loose Tooth, Taipan Tiger, just to name a few.

Meanwhile, Briggs, UK act Fatima & Alexander Nut, and New Zealand’s Weird Together will be heading up the ZOO street party towards the end of the week, while The Age Music Awards after party during the week will feature Harvey Sutherland, Gold Class, and local legends Cable Ties.

In short, there is a lot going on, and there’s plenty more still to be announced. Check out the program as it stands now on the MMW website — the full line-up is set to drop on October 17.

Melbourne Music Week will take place from November 17 to 25. Tickets are on sale now.
