Here’s Our Very Thorough Timeline Of Miley Cyrus & Cody Simpson’s Whirlwind Relationship
We are totally struggling to keep track of the romantic timeline between Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson. Is their blooming relationship our business? Maybe not. Do we still want to know exactly what is going on between them at every hour of the day? Absolutely.
So to plug the gaps in our knowledge, we’ve decided to pull together everything we can find about Miley’s romance with our very own Robot on The Masked Singer Cody Simpson.
Here’s what we know about Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson’s whirlwind relationship:
First, a little background
In August, news broke that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had ended their marriage. By the end of September, Miley’s #HotGirlSummer fling with influencer Kaitlyn Carter had also ended. Last week, Liam is seen canoodling with Dynasty actor Maddison Brown in NYC, sparking relationship chatter. Meanwhile, Miley is now linked with ‘La Da Dee’ singer Cody Simpson.
Back in 2014 and 2015, the pair were first alleged to be dating, but Cody said they were “just mates”. And way back in 2012, Cody copped to having a big crush on Miley.
3 October
Miley and Cody were spotted at a Backyard Bowls in LA having a snog. There’s a video of it. We’ve all seen it.
Someone told People they were “very cute together”: “Miley and Cody came in together. Cody ordered an acai bowl to go. While they waited, Miley was very flirty. You could tell that she was interested in Cody. She ended up sitting on his lap and started kissing him. He was totally game and smiling.”
4 October
In a celebration of Hot Girl Fall, Miley posted a couple of Insta Stories about Cody. With a pic of him shirtless ( a running motif here), she describes him as 22, tick, Australian (my type), tick, and abs, tick. Later, in response to the video of the pair pashing, she posed the age-old question: “Can a girl not get a fucking açaí bowl and a morning make-out session in peace ?!?!”
5 October
Cody posted a clip of him playing his upcoming single – out Friday 18 October – ‘Golden Thing’, and Miley urged him to hurry up and “Drop. That. Shit”. There’s fire emojis, the most romantic emoji.
Later, at a Tiffany event, Cody explained that he wrote the song for her, while she was sick with tonsillitis. And that she’s bullying him to put it out: “If you don’t put this shit out, I’m putting it out on your behalf for you. I’m getting your Spotify login and doing this shit myself.”
He also posted an Insta Story of the pair together, and the delicious brekkie of banana and peanut butter on toast:

6 October
Cody posted a thirst shot on Instagram, where you can see Miley taking the photo in the window reflection. Ofc she commented with fire and broken heart emojis, dubbing Cody: “Cutest”.
That night Cody posted Insta Stories of the pair watching Blue Hawaii, and singing along to Elvis’ ‘Ku-U-I-Po’.
7 October
Miley was sick in bed with tonsillitis, but Cody turned up for a visit, playing his acoustic guitar. She posts an Insta shot of him, captioned, The DR. is back… luckiest.”
8 October
When she’s admitted to hospital, Miley posted some selfies alone, writing “BF coming to visit me @ the hospy”. That’s about Cody. Cody is her BF.
9 October
Miley posted a selfie of her and Cody, as Cody played the acoustic guitar. It’s a shot of him visiting her in hospital, and singing ‘Golden Thing’.

She posts the pic on Twitter on the same day that she and Cody are sharing Insta Stories about making it home.
11 October
Cody attended the launch of the Tiffany and Co’s men and spilled his guts. He declares it’s “safe to say” the pair are officially on.
“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy. She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well. The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long.”
He goes on to say that the two “found each other again in a space where we’re both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good”.
“Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”
12 October
Miley and Cody are papped going to lunch with Miley’s mum, Tish.
Cody posted shots from the launch of Tiffany and Co’s men’s range. Miley posted, “Boo thang” and a ghost emoji. Someone asked Cody if Miley will share him and Cody said thumbs down, implying that the couple are in an exclusive relationship.
14 October
Miley posted an Insta Story of her and Cody pashing over bowls of soup??? She also posted a bathroom selfie of the pair together. Cody then posted his own Insta Story of the pair pashing while using a disturbing Joker filter. It was a big day.
15 October
Cody’s mum lets it be known that she approves of her son’s relationship: “Puts a smile on my dial to see you both so blissfully happy.” Miley’s mum shared the sentiment, writing on the post, “Puts a smile on my dial too.”
Cody’s manager, Matt Zeidman, gave People the scoop on the couple’s sobriety: “It is early, but their friendship is long-standing and deeper than people realise. Though they originally met during their own wilder phases, they’re both sober now and are focused on health, work and spending time together. Seems pretty ideal to me.”
16 October
Miley posted a picture on Instagram of her and Cody’s new ink, by LA tattoo artist, Nico Bassill. Cody’s got a skull and crossbones, with a scythe through it, on his collarbone. It’s the same tattoo Steve McQueen has in the 1973 movie Papillon. Miley’s got a “rock’n’roll heart” with a sword through it on her arm.
Nico, Miley and Cody have each been posting about the new tats since yesterday. The last set of pics from Cody’s also features Miley’s hand down his pants! Fun! Along with a string of ‘ship’ emojis (geddit?), Cyrus commented, “Need. Oxygen. Can’t. Breathe. I. Stan. For. Ever. Ship.” on the post.
And Miley just posted about their lunch while getting tattoos, because celebs are just like us – when they’re comfortable in a relationship, they’re just there, eating Pad Thai together.
