Need a Friday pick-me-up to take you bouncing in to the weekend? Missy Elliot has retuned from the peripherals of life with a bangin’ new track called ‘WTF’. Like basically any new song these days, the three and a half minute jam features Pharrell Williams too.

Along with the song is a Missy-styled video featuring more choreographed hip-hop moves than you can poke a stick at. Oh, plus Elliot doing her thang in a disco suit while Pharrell rhymes along as a puppet with an oversized head. The song itself seems refreshingly out of place in today’s pop-music environment – almost like it’s been plucked from the past decade (for all the right reasons).

On a more serious note, this new music is awesome news for fans. Back in June 2011, Missy told the folk at People magazine that her absence from the music industry was due to a rare hyperthyroid disorder called Graves’ disease which affected her to the point she physically couldn’t pen new tracks. After treatment, her symptoms have stabilised allowing her write new music, give us these dance moves and work towards a new album that she’s spent the last decade working on. Good for you Missy, ‘work it’.

Welcome back Missy, good luck topping this perfection:
