The true victim of the Fyre Festival documentary currently streaming on Netflix is the caterer left out of pocket. Now a GoFundMe page has already raised over $140k for the angel. Yes, the internet can be a very good place after all.

For those that have watched the film, the most upsetting part is when restaurant owner Maryann Rolle chokes up when relaying how much she lost and is owed from that hellfire festival. The scene will leave you devastated but also absolutely furious over all the innocent people screwed over by McFarland and Co.

Before the film dropped, Rolle made the page to make back her money and she’s achieved her goal, and then some. We couldn’t be more thrilled for Rolle and her staff.

The GoFundMe page reads:

“Back in April 2017 I pushed myself to the limit catering no less than a 1000 meals per day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all prepared and delivered by Exuma Point to Coco Plum Beach and Roker’s Point where the main events were scheduled to take place. Organizers would also visit my Exuma Point location to enjoy the prepared meals.

“Fyre Fest organizers were also checked into all the rooms at Exuma Point Resort.”

She continued:

“As I make this plea it’s hard to believe and embarrassing to admit that I was not paid…I was left in a big hole! My life was changed forever, and my credit was ruined by Fyre Fest.

“My only resource today is to appeal for help.

“There is an old saying that goes “bad publicity is better than no publicity” and I pray that whoever reads this plea is able to assist.”

While the aim from Rolle was to raise $123k, the money donated has already surpassed this and doesn’t show any signs of stopping as more people watch the Netflix doco.

This story has truly restored my faith in what the internet can make happen. Bless Maryann and all the staff at Exuma Point Resort.
