The Breathtaking, Badass First Teaser For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Mulan’ Remake Is Here
With the new Lion King hitting cinemas in less than a fortnight, and casting well underway for a fresh take on The Little Mermaid, the execs at Disney are certainly keeping busy. But before Ariel comes swimming back across the screen, the Mouse House is revisiting another one of its beloved stories with a live-action remake of Mulan. And the first trailer looks absolutely spectacular.
In case you never saw the original (how?), Mulan tells the story of a young woman in ancient China who masquerades as a man so she can join the army in place of her ageing father — ultimately winning the respect of the entire kingdom.

It’s worth noting that this trailer plays down the more Disney-ish elements you might remember from the animated version; there are no musical numbers or wise-cracking dragons voiced by Eddie Murphy. What we do get are stunning costumes and cinematography, as well as our first proper look at Chinese-American actor Liu Yifei as the title character. And it looks like she knows her way around a sword.
Mulan hits cinemas in Australia on March 26, 2020. Until then, you can listen to ‘I’ll Make A Man Out Of You’ on repeat right here.
