Munich In Lockdown: Police Say At Least Ten Dead In Shooting
Munich is in lock down after at least three gunmen went on a shooting spree, killing ten people and leaving at least another ten others injured.
It’s believed three gunmen took part in the attack at around 6pm local time, however details are still sketchy as the situation unfolds. German news magazine Focus reports that one gunman shot himself, while police currently believe there may be still two gunmen on the lose, in what is a currently confusing situation.
Public transport has been completely shutdown across the city and Facebook has activated it’s Safety Check feature to help people locate loved one. You can see people you know who are in the area here.
The Australian government has raised the travel warning for the city, while the advice level for Germany remains normal. Australians have been told to exercise a high degree of caution in Munich and avoid public places in the city. The Age reports that a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman says Australian officials in Germany are making urgent inquiries into whether any Australians were victims of the attack.

A witness told CNN that a gunmen prepared himself in a McDonalds bathroom before walking out of the restaurant shooting at people, including children.
Authorities cannot confirm a motive for the attack, though it is being treated as a terrorist incident. It’s still unclear which group is responsible, however online chatter says that it’s possible that the group may have been extreme right-wing Germans, or inspired by extreme Islamic views. However this is still not known and some are claiming that the attacker had severe mental health issues.
Many have drawn parallels to Anders Breivik, the right-wing lunatic who murdered 77 people on an island in Norway five years ago on this day.
One of the potential shooters was confronted by a bystander in an exchange on a rooftop. The video has now been translated and shows a visibly white male screaming “I am German” with a thick German accent enforcing the fact that he was born in the country and not an migrant.

People are sharing a video showing a shooter saying "I am German", but I have no idea whether it's authentic or fake, so please be cautious.
