National Treasure Uses A Terabyte Of Data On Telstra’s Unlimited Data Day
Taking one for the little guy! As Telstra customers grow further frustrated with the provider, 27-year-old Sydney resident John Szaszvari managed to clock up nearly a terabyte of data use on Sunday’s unlimited data day. Fucking genius.
On Sunday he ploughed through almost a whole terabyte of data, 994GB to be specific. He managed to get through such a hefty amount of data as his Rhodes home is near a 4GX mobile tower, which has speeds multiple times faster than regular 4G.
To use up all that data, Szasvari had to get creative.
He downloaded 14 seasons of MythBusters; 24 seasons of The Simpsons; the entire Wikipedia database; Microsoft software for his job; updates for his Xbox games; backups of personal files, including photos and videos to the cloud; synced all his Spotify playlists offline; along with “a lot of random other stuff,” he told SMH.
“Believe it or not I actually intend to watch it all – it’s going to take a while but at least it’s ready on demand,” he said.”I’m thinking two Simpsons episodes per evening for the next foreseeable while to remind me of when I was a child.”
Szaszvari’s impressive feat even caught the eye of Telstra CEO Kate McKenzie, she mentioned at the CommsDay conference in Sydney:
“Some of our customers really do have a big appetite for data,” she said.
