A new Netflix doco is claiming that eating one egg a day is as bad as smoking five cigarettes. Excuse me, what?!

The controversial ‘diet doco’ titled What the Health strongly promotes veganism while arguing that eating meat, fish, poultry and dairy is causing obesity, cancer and poisoning us.

Sure at times the film makes some solid points. However, the weirdest and most controversial part of the agenda-pushing film is the claim that eating a single eggs is worse than smoking cigarettes.

MAY AS WELL EAT A CIGGY FOR BREAKIE, AYYYYY.

But why do the film-makers hate eggs so much?!? Personally…

The film cites the high level of cholesterol in eggs, which can lead to coronary artery disease.

Alexandra Freeman from Cambridge University told The Times that the study referred to by the film makers is known to scientists in the field of health as incredibly controversial. It’s pretty clear from first viewing that the doco is pushing a one-sided, pro-vegan agenda with interviews featuring largely vegan doctors and experts.

Meanwhile, opinions from the non-vegans are often sourced by spontaneously calling receptionists at various organisations who are unable to properly answer questions, or catching medical professionals off-guard.

Cancer researcher Alice Howarth said the film doesn’t present enough evidence to back up its claims.

“While it is true that diet plays an important role in diseases including cancer and diabetes, the claims in this film vastly overstate and misrepresent the scientific understanding,” she told The Times.

What the Health overwhelms the viewer with scaremongering ‘facts’ which do not hold up to scientific investigation.”

Viewers are just confused by the film’s claims, and Twitter is roasting the doco hard.

Here’s the trailer for the doco causing all this commotion:
