Does The Dick In That ‘Sex/Life’ Scene Really Belong To Adam Demos? An Investigation
It’s not every day I sit down and decide to conduct an investigation into whether or not a penis is real.
When I went to university to study media and communications, with a major in journalism, I didn’t predict in the following years I’d be researching whether a nude scene in a deliciously trashy Netflix show was real. But, alas, here we are and I’m not even mad about it.
If you’ve been watching Sex/Life on Netflix, chances are you clicked on this article for a very specific reason. Yes, my friends, we’re here to talk about that shower scene in Episode 3 of the series.
For those who are confused and haven’t seen Sex/Life and for some reason are still reading this article, the general TL;DR is this: The main protagonist’s jealous husband tracks down her ex-boyfriend she’s been fantasising about, goes to the same gym as him, showers at the same time as him, and checks out what he’s been hiding under those gym shorts.
And he’s been hiding a lot.
If you weren’t ready to cop an eyeful when watching the show, then you’ll know the shock that ripped through your body when you unwittingly caught the sight of a big old schlong on your flatscreen TV or laptop screen. Maybe you even rubbed your eyes and rewound the footage to really suss out whether that thing was real. Maybe you messaged a lot of your friends asking if they had seen the show yet. Maybe I’m projecting again.
Needless to say, if you did fall into the above category, your friends either wrote back in two ways: saying, no, they have a life and they haven’t been living through someone else’s fantasy on TV, or they knew exactly what you were talking about already.
So, if you are caught up and have seen episode 3, I know what mystery is playing on your mind: was that nude scene really Adam Demos in all his full glory? Was it a body double? Was that thing even real?
I’m not one to shy away from an investigative task, especially one that will have the IT guys at my workplace recoiling if they ever look at my browser history. So, let’s get into it.
An investigation into whether that was Adam Demos’ real penis on Sex/Life, episode 3.

Why are people talking about this scene so much?
How do I say this delicately…
People are talking about this scene so much because, not only do we rarely see a penis in all its glory on a soap-style TV show, but it’s just really a monster of a thing. It’s huge. There’s no other way to say it. I was watching the show with my housemate and we both accidentally screamed.
I’m forever traumatized by a dick ???

What Adam says:
Adam talked to EW about his role and when he was specifically asked if he requested a body double for the nude shot or whether he was OK with it, he had this to say:
“I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you’re getting yourself into from the start, so I don’t think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute. That doesn’t mean you can’t have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have – and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer.”
When asked by EW whether he anticipated a lot of talk about the shower scene, Adam played coy. “I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see…” he said.
“You know, you sacrifice for the art,” he told The Cut in another interview when asked about the full-frontal shot.
Notice he doesn’t deny it but he also never really confirms it in a way that would hold up in the court of law.
The debate:
If you get into the depths of Google, you’ll find fans of the show debating whether that shot really was Adam in all his glory. People on Reddit aren’t so sure.
“It’s a prop,” one user commented, with another Reddit member getting a bit more technical. “He’s probably being told to say that [in interviews] to get people to watch, if you look at the episode it wiggles around too much when he moves, like it’s made of rubber. A real penis wouldn’t move around like that,” they said.
“He said in an interview that he did not use a body double… truth or not that’s definitely a tree I’d love to climb,” another person said.
I uh…. I need to go delete my browser history and pray.
In conclusion:
If Adam isn’t saying he used a body double, then we have no choice but to take the man’s word for it for now: it’s his real deal.
I expect the Walkleys to be in touch with me soon.
