Prongles may appear at first glance to merely be an imposter Pringles chippy product, but dig a little deeper and there’s much more to the story.

Someone noticed the conspicuous Prongles packets sitting on the shelves in the board game aisle of a US Target. Following their tweet,  it’s sparked interest and confusion across social media. Because I mean, first off, ‘Prongles’. What a name. That’s just great. And just look at this packaging:

“Once You Pop…THAT’S GREAT!”

The slogan has taken the world by storm. Plus the flavours “Onions and Cream” and “Salt and Potato” are just…not quite right.

People have been drawn in by the strange rip-off chippies that are suddenly everywhere, and the investigative internet detectives of Reddit and Imgur dived in to figure out wtf is going on here. And it turns out there is A LOT going on here.

So, if you peel back the Prongles sticker you find that the OG chip packet logo is for The GOOD Crisp Company. Which is apparently an Aussie company??

People also noticed that ‘CAH’ is on the front label of the chip packets, somewhere around the weird piggo guy. So people started looking to Cards Against Humanity a with Q’s like: what is this? ‘Why are you selling chips?

The investigators kept digging and found that the tins are also listed the website ‘www.OriginalProngles.com‘, which is a blank site with the promise of “coming soon”. But the site domain’s registering organisation is Cards Against Humanity LLC…

Prongles also has a Twitter account with only three Tweets since September along the lines of:

The account lists its location as Chicago, Illinois, which is the same location as the Cards Against Humanity Twitter account.

SO, in conclusion, Cards Against Humanity seem to be distributing cheap, rebranded Pringle rip-off chippies in Target‘s across America as some kind of promotional stunt for something? We don’t know yet but we have fallen right into this PR trap and want to know what this all means ASAP.

Ready and waiting CAH. Your move.
