WATCH: New ‘Venom’ Teaser Is An Overhyped Mess & People Are Roasting It Hard
It’s a film that’s been in development for over a decade. It has hardcore Spider-Man fans salivating. It promises to be Sony’s big leap into the superhero world.
But people are mad that the first-look trailer for Venom… doesn’t even show the title character. At all.
All we really see in the trailer is Tom Hardy briefly caught on camera in human form as Eddie Brock. A lot of fans are blaming Sony for the shoddy trailer:
So that #Venom trailer kinda sucked.
How can you tease the movie without showing the character?
GG Sony… You deserve to be sold at this point.

Sony Exec 1: "Think we need to put a shot of Venom in the VENOM trailer?"
Sony Exec 2: "Nah."— Scott Wampler™ (@ScottWamplerBMD) February 8, 2018
Re: #Venom trailer.
I get that Sony either doesn't want to or can't show much, but if you're gonna drop a trailer full of nothing you have to have at least ONE shot that makes me go "Whoa! You have my attention."
There was nothing like that. ????

The rumour is that Venom’s complex CGI was not fully ready yet – the movie isn’t slated for release until October this year. They’ve released this teaser real early.
And according to Tom Hardy’s Instagram, Venom finished shooting just more than a week ago.
So why release a trailer now?
It’s because one of the strongest ways to market a movie is to advertise it to fans that are watching similar movies — and pretty much every big superhero movie this calendar year is coming up really soon.
In the next few months, we’re going to see Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War — after which, there isn’t really much for the rest of the year. So the Venom film makers have made this teaser to rush it into cinema screenings to get as much exposure as possible.
Which might explain this big issue fans have with the trailer:
If it's too early to even show a single shot of the title character in your trailer… maybe just don't release a trailer? #Venom
