The upcoming season of American Horror Story is set to be scary AF, with season 6 going back in time once again and tackling the mystery of the Roanoke Colony disappearance.

In the late 16th century 118 colonists disappeared, which has long baffled historians and it’s still unknown where these people could’ve gone. Known as ‘The Lost Colony’, there are theories that the colonists carved the word “Croatoan” into a fence post to alert anyone who stumbled across their deserted outpost, that they moved to Croatoan island.

Set photos posted by TMZ reveal period locations and even show a photograph of a tree with the word “Croatoan” carved into it.

We already know from FX CEO John Landgraf, the sixth season of the show will be, “set in two time periods…but principally in the present.”

So it looks like the season will switch between the 16th century and today.

It’s been confirmed that Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates and Cuba Gooding Jr will be starring in to the season, however no one else has yet been confirmed.
