“Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?” – this is just one of many lines that makes Heathers one of the greatest films of all time.

The black comedy has grown a pretty huge cult following since its release in 1988 and guess what… the movie is being made into a TV series. How very!

While a TV remake has been rumoured before and many hopes have been dashed, this time a pilot for the show has been greenlit, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For those that haven’t had the pleasure of watching the flick, it follows Winona Ryder as part of a popular high school clique ‘the Heathers’ – but this is not your typical teen movie, and comes with a dark and murderous twist.

The TV show is being described as a “comedic anthology,” and will be a present day adaption, in which the misfits are the ones ruling the school.

Leslye Headland will direct the pilot and told THR: “I related with it so much,” she said. “I can’t believe they got away with so much. The movie was a huge influence on an entire generation and it’ll be nice to introduce this to a new generation.”

The Heathers TV show is pegged to begin production this month.

Excited much?
