People Are Very Much Not OK With The Ending Of ‘Normal People’
Normal People is a beautifully moving story of young love, that will absolutely punch you in the heart and leave you a mere shell of a person. It’s great.
The 12-episode series just debuted on Stan, and it is truly something special. The scenery, the soundtrack, the steamy sex scenes… simply put, the series is an event, and it shouldn’t be missed.
Based on the Sally Rooney novel of the same name, Normal People follows the constantly intertangled lives of Connell and Marianne, two students from a small Irish town who date and have sexual encounters on and off from their teens into their early twenties.

Warning: there are plenty of Normal People spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t finished the series — especially if you haven’t read the book — it’s best to avoid reading further.
Due to the electric chemistry between the leads played by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, viewers really rooted for the couple to make it work –throughout the episodes, the characters were their best selves when they were together. Many fans watching hoped that the series would conclude with Connell and Marianne back together, and hopefully for good.
About to watch episode 12 of #NormalPeople … if this doesn’t have a happy ending I genuinely don’t know what I’ll do!

For people who know the book’s conclusion, the ending won’t come as a surprise, but for others experiencing the story with fresh eyes, it might come as a shock that Connell and Marianne don’t end up together. Instead, the series ends with Marianne telling Connell to accept a scholarship for a prestigious writing course in New York, and she decides to stay in Ireland.
‘I’ll go’
‘And I’ll stay and we will be ok’my fucking soul isn’t ok though Marianne

JUST PULL OUT MY WHOLE HEART WHY DON’T YOU, I DON’T NEED IT ANYMORE.
For people looking for a happy ending tied in a neat little bow, Normal People ain’t here for that. In the final episode, it appears that Marianne and Connell had finally found their way back to each other, until that final scene which has left viewers emotionally traumatised.

#NormalPeople just finished Normal People and I am not ok. Why do I feel so attached to these characters?! That ending was not what I was looking for. Why can't two people just love each other and be together!! pic.twitter.com/d5qXL3pWy8

Others saw the conclusion as open-ended and found solace in the fact there’s a chance Connell and Marianne could one day end up together.
I’m sorry but I have to believe Connell comes back and they are together. They’re soul mates…the number of times they have been apart and bought back together. I think the ending was honestly open to this possibility and I believe it ..#normalpeople

Never been as deeply effected by something as #NormalPeople, & even though it wasn’t the ending I wanted, I’d like to think it was a happy one. Wonderful ?

That ending to #normalpeople was even more perfect than the book. Beautiful, raw, real. How wonderful to discover fresh new talent too. They were incredible. Lost ourself in story and characters way more because of that. Well done to all involved with bringing it to screen ?

Either way, what a stunning series. Let’s not be sad that it’s over, let’s be thankful that it happened.
#NormalPeople was so BEAUTIFUL and well written plus it was brilliantly acted. Connell and Marianne were endearing as hell and following their story was amazing. That ending hurt, but it made so much sense. Can we have more shows like this please? pic.twitter.com/iL7zsqCmW8
