Travelling to a foreign country can be daunting enough, even without the language barrier, which can turn the simplest tasks into a fuzzy mess of confusion.

But some exciting new translation technology, called ‘Pilot’ could fix all this.

‘Pilot’ is the world’s first smart earpiece that can translate foreign languages in real time, with only a minuscule delay. So for example, when two people start a conversation in different languages, they can easily understand each other.

It’s a bloody game-changer.

The prototype is a three-part system with two small Bluetooth earbuds, one for each speaker, and a smartphone app doing the actual translation. The device so far supports English, Spanish, French, Italian, and other languages can be added, through updating the app.

A launch date for the product has not yet been set, but the price point will be between £170-£200, so roughly $350 Aussie dollarydoos.
