The Original ‘Age of Empires’ Is Getting A Glorious Ultra-High Definition Makeover
The ’90s are back, and they’re now in glorious, glorious 4K ultra-high definition.
Today at E3, gaming’s biggest showcase event, Microsoft announced it was re-releasing the original Age of Empires will fully remastered visuals. Hell. Yeah.
The classic strategy game has always been hugely popular, but in the early 2000s, Kelloggs started giving out copies for free in boxes of Nutri-Grain which helped propel it into iconic cult status.
Age of Empires has spawned numerous sequels, but there’s still nothing that beats the original’s classic priest-on-priest battles in terms of sheer, insane fun:
The new version of the game will feature a fully remastered soundtrack, and entirely redesigned, high-definition assets. They’ve also upgraded the user interface and multiplayer system to make it compatible with Xbox Live.
Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will be released on PC later this year, but you can sign up for an early beta version right here.
