Pamela Anderson’s Heartbreaking Netflix Doco Should Be Compulsory Viewing
If you grew up in the ’90s, whether you realised it or not, Pamela Anderson shaped your idea of a blonde bombshell.
The Baywatch actress epitomised the elusive once-in-lifetime celebrity, while inarguably, stunningly beautiful she also exuded a kind of charisma that made every person who came in contact with her instantly entranced.
Pamela’s big break came when she graced the cover of Playboy in 1989 before being cast as C.J in Baywatch in 1992. The show would go on to become a global phenomenon, making Pamela one of the most famous people the world over, and not to mention a global sex symbol.
Ngl, I knew NOTHING about Pamela Anderson and I never cared. Ever. But I decided to watch the Netflix doc, and holy shit I just gained so much respect for her. She’s such a beautiful, brave and strong woman.

The actress had the world at her feet, but it all came crashing down when an intimate video she had filmed with her then-husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, was stolen from their shared home and illegally distributed… literally across the world.
This is one of many harrowing topics covered in Netflix’s documentary Pamela, A Love Story. The film follows the release of Pam & Tommy last year, a bizarre comedy series that seemingly made light of the tape scandal, as told from the perspective of the criminal who stole the tape.
Pamela, A Love Story offers Pamela the opportunity share her side of the story, along with giving fans a glimpse of what the icon has been up to since she virtually fell off the face of the earth.

Found Netflix’s Pamela: A Love Story really moving. Taking back a narrative that was truly snatched away from her, Pam is vulnerable and honest in telling her story in her words. The love she has really shone through, and you can’t help but fall in love with her in return. pic.twitter.com/2Ku932a8iu

Trigger warning though: the film does relay some truly upsetting details of the actress’ life, from experiencing sexual abuse throughout her childhood, domestic violence at the hands of Tommy, along with being constantly mocked, objectified, slut-shamed, and victim-blamed by the media.
Pamela Anderson deserved so much better. This documentary is a confronting watch so proceed with caution, but tbh, it should be compulsory viewing.
