Passion Pop Is Being Sold For $60 A Bottle Overseas & We Can’t Stop Laughing
For most of us, a fair chunk of our younger years were spent chugging down the cheapest, nastiest alcohol our money could buy: the humble Passion Pop. But turns out we were actually drinking a fine wine, that’s an international delicacy.
Journalist Nick Bond discovered in a Sri Lankan restaurant that Passion Pop was listed on the wine menu, and selling for 7,500 rupee. That equates to approx $60 dollarydoos.
We aren’t even kidding:

It’s a pretty huge price hike, considering that in Australia you can pick up a bottle of Passion Pop for around $5 bucks.
The wine description even reads:
“Passion Pop is loaded with soft, approachable passion fruit sweetness.”
We don’t know what the writer of this has been drinking, but we reckon the ol’ PP tastes more akin to dishwasher liquid, with a dash of grounded up metal, masked with Passiona syrup.
Reactions online are suitably outraged:
Hmm, the Veuve or the Passion Pop, it's a tough decision… https://t.co/hXpG1Xb3Vk

Wow. Passion Pop. It's been two decades and I haven't missed it at all…

Sweet Jesus, no. Approachable passion fruit? The only thing approachable after drinking passion pop was the nearest bush after sculling a bottle at lunchtime in college ????
