Punkee is Junkee Media’s award-winning Gen Z brand, and is one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most exciting youth publishers – we’re on the hunt for a multimedia editor to join our team.
Punkee is on the hunt for a Multimedia Editor to join its editorial team based in Surry Hills on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis.
We’re looking for someone to help us produce multimedia content across all social media platforms, to help us boost Punkee’s brand and reach new audiences.
This exciting opportunity is well suited to any young video editor or journalist who is looking to have a big impact in the digital media space, creating unique original content that resonates strongly with Punkee’s audience.
The Ideal Candidate
Will leave and breathe memes, the latest trends in online culture, and have a passion for reality TV shows like The Bachelor and Married At First Sight. You’ll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight turnarounds and deadlines, and you’ll be able to bring a fresh, new take to the video recap formats Punkee is known for.
On a day-to-day basis you’ll be able to switch effortlessly between creating original content for Punkee’s socials while also working with the wider team to cover the latest in Aussie entertainment and pop culture. You’re creative, driven, and will be able to pitch your own unique ideas to help grow Punkee’s brand and influence.
You’ll have an understanding of social media, and be just as comfortable in front of the camera hosting as you are behind the scenes producing viral videos for the Punkee brand.
Responsibilities
- Produce Punkee’s incredibly popular reality TV recaps, bringing your own spin to this hugely successful format
- Work closely with the Punkee Editor to sniff out the latest trends, memes, and videos, and adapt them for Punkee’s audience
- Work to fast-turnaround deadlines, both autonomously and in a team
- Be the online face of Punkee’s multimedia productions
- Source any assets needed to help tell stories, and be proficient in securing the rights to use them
You
- You’ve got 2-4 years’ experience working as an editor / producer / reporter
- You understand how to best formulate a video to be distributed through social media, with the intention of catching eyeballs in the news feed and being watched on mobile.
- You’re experienced in being an on camera host and have an understanding of the video production process
- You’re proficient in Microsoft Office or Adobe Suite. You’ve got a strong understanding of, and passion for, the youth communications space
- You have a wide breadth of knowledge and understanding of Australian entertainment and pop culture, and are able to respond to trending topics with a unique perspective
- You’re effortless in your research and script video news segments within a short turnaround, with confidence in the accuracy of fact-checking and ability to take a brief and execute it
- You’re comfortable producing content from start to finish, and where appropriate, sourcing comments and quotes from both experts and social media
- You’re comfortable sourcing & supporting video, photo or audio assets to help tell stories and comfortable in securing the correct rights and permissions to clear any assets used
- You’re a master storyteller, confident in being able to translate your stories on-screen, in a way that is engaging and interesting, without feeling forced
