Quentin Tarantino Fans Slam Village Cinemas After Their Q&A Ticketing Nightmare
Movie fans in Melbourne and Sydney lost their s-h-i-t yesterday after news surfaced that Quentin Tarintino, Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russel are heading Down Under. The trio announced they’ll be meeting with fans and conducting Q&A sessions at special premieres of the highly anticipated film, ‘The Hateful Eight‘ shown in 70mm at Village Cinemas.
Around 500 tickets to each of the shows went online at 9am this morning and it’s believed that Village members were given a priority window of 30 minutes to get their hands on seats before everyone else.
However, it seems Village may have underestimated their blood-thirsty Tarintino nuts who all logged in first thing in the morning and continually refreshed, waiting for their chance to snap’em up. The fandom apparently proved all too much for the Village website and it basically decided to pack up shop and head off for the day.
Some of the members who were supposed to have early access were met with a ‘website maintenance’ message that locked them out of the system, while others battled mind-melting loading times that expired their sessions. As time ticked on, the shit fight continued and soon the general public were pouring online for a piece of the action.

Now, Tarintino fans can be a fairly passionate mob and they haven’t taken this experience too lightly. Hundreds have been commenting on the cinema’s Facebook event and some even posting images of their cancelled Village memberships. Ouch.
One Village member reports that he logged on a solid 45 minutes early to make sure he didn’t miss out, taking to Facebook to vent his anger:
I was at my computer from 8:15am onwards and was simply unable to get tickets as your website crashed. Now from what I can see, the event has completely sold out and your customer service people couldn’t care less. Absolutely appalling.

In a statement to TheVine, Village Cinemas General Manager Sales and Marketing Mohit Bhargava said:
There is some good news for those who missed out as The Hateful Eight will be screened in an extended 70mm version for a one week season at Village Cinemas Rivolifrom Thursday, 14 January 2016.
TheVine.com.au approached Village Roadshow for further comment to confirm the reasons for the outage but we are yet to hear back. We’ll add any updates below.
The Hateful Eight is a film set in a post civil war Wyoming, where a group of bounty hunters seek shelter during a blizzard.
