Recently released and extremely spooky Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House, continues to be all anyone can talk about.

Based on the 1959 novel of the same name, it’s extremely good shit and scary as hell. I was late to the party and just finished the series over the weekend. While I loved the story, the jump scares and the twists and turns, I really hated some of the characters.

While a few of the family members truly deserved better (aka Nell and Hugh), others really deserved to die in the end. I’m sorry but it’s true.

(Warning: some spoilers ahead!)

We’ve ranked the fam according to who should have met a swift death from least to most deserving:

#7. Nell

Poor Nell. What an angel. She lived a terrifying life, being haunted by bent neck lady, who was in fact herself predicting the way she’d die. That’s all kinds of shitty. Then her wonderful hubby died in front of her mid paralysis. Damn, this bitch deserved better.

#6. Hugh

I honestly couldn’t stand how terribly the kids treated their dad. This guy has truly seen SOME SHIT, yet his children speak to him like absolute crap and show zero gratitude. He had to live carrying so many heavy secrets on his shoulders, and then paid the ultimate sacrifice.

#5. Luke

I have mixed feelings over Luke. Sure, he was a thief. But if he felt like he had to constantly be under the influence of drugs so he wouldn’t be haunted by terrifying visions, then can you really blame him? I think not. Plus his siblings, apart from Nell, were awful to him.

#4. Theo

I love Theo. Her character is by far the best and she had the most interesting story arc. Saying that, she wasn’t always the nicest. She would have been higher on this list if it wasn’t for how she treated that hottie she met at the club.

#3. Olivia

This woman is messed up. She gave that little girl rat poison. She wanted all her children dead just so she wouldn’t be alone. You’d think Nell would be enough but nope. Saying that, some concessions can be granted as she was clearly under some kind of dark spell and it maybe wasn’t all her fault.

#2. Shirley

I can’t stand Shirley. She is annoying, grumpy and rude, and mostly for no good reason. I get that her sister, Theo, kissed her husband but she’s gay, hon. You don’t need to be worried. Chill and maybe stop playing with your dead sister’s organs. It’s a bit weird.

#1. Steven

Dis binch is the worst. THE WORST. Kill him. Burn all his books. He profited off a story he didn’t even believe in and when his dad or siblings shared actual ghostly experiences, he dismissed them. He is the ultimate hypocrite and should be banished to live out his days as a ghost in Hill House forever. Not sorry.
