If you want dramatic television, there’s seriously no better franchise for it than The Real Housewives. No matter which season you favour, you’re bound to be treated to glittering, million-dollar lifestyles, wall-to-wall screaming (the good and the bad kind), and fancy dinners that tend to descend into the best kind of madness.
It’s impossible to list all of our favourite moments, but here’s the drama that will stick in our memories forever.
#6 NeNe making it rain
Anyone who’s watched even a highlights reel of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta knows that Nene Leakes never shies away from drama. One time, Sheree and NeNe were fighting over which of them could command a higher appearance fee. Ah, rich people problems. The fight itself dragged on for quite a while, but the unforgettable highlight was NeNe leaning over and yelling, “I am very rich, bitch”.
#5 LeeAnn’s on-the-nose Halloween costume
Real Housewives of Dallas stars Stephanie and LeeAnn have always had a bit of rivalry. But fans of the show know that no confrontation could top LeeAnn’s season two Halloween costume. Yep, she turned up at a party at Stephanie’s house dressed as… Stephanie. Two-faced Stephanie, to be exact. Once the episode aired, it turned into a huge fight on Twitter, because of course, drama never sleeps.
#4 The demise of the friend contract
Fans of Atlanta know that Cynthia and NeNe have been thick as thieves for years. At one point, Cynthia even jokingly drew up a friendship contract for her BFF to sign, thinking they’d stay close forever. But, as the seasons went on, a lot of shit went down, and tensions between the pair grew.
In Season 7, things reached a fever pitch and Cynthia decided enough was enough. She literally set fire to the contract, clapping and cheering, “Burn, baby, burn!” as it went up in flames.
#3 The doomed Amsterdam dinner
Ask any Housewives fan for the most iconic fight of any spin-off, and nine out of 10 will surely name this one. The huge Amsterdam blowout on Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills started as an argument between Lisa R. and Kim, then Eileen tried to get between them. After Kim called Eileen a “beast”, everyone got fired up.
At one point, Kim told Lisa to eat a piece of bread and calm down, a quote that should be embroidered on throw pillows. Later on, Lisa literally threw her wine in Kim’s face (what a cliché), then smashed her glass on the table. At this point, Kyle practically sprinted off down the street.
#2 Aviva ripping off her fake leg
Real Housewives Of New York has had its fair share of insane drama, but this one will go down in Housewives history as some of the best. While the ladies were out having a fancy dinner at a restaurant in the city, things got heated (as they always seem to). At one point, Heather was standing over Aviva, screaming and calling her a fake. Aviva’s (ahem) knee-jerk reaction was to rip off her prosthetic leg, slam it on the table and say, “This is the only thing fake about me”.
The reactions of the housewives and the other people in the restaurant were pure gold.
#1 Teresa flipping out – literally
It’s nearly impossible to name an episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey that doesn’t have an overly dramatic scene in it – when Tesesa Guidice is involved, things always seem to spiral out of control. And who could forget the iconic fight on the Season One finale, when Teresa got up and flipped a TABLE. We don’t even really remember exactly why, just that it was amazing television. The pair recreated the moment ten years later, and it’s still top-notch entertainment.
