RIP Avicii: EDM Superstar Dies, Aged 28
International EDM superstar Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, has passed away in Oman overnight aged 28.
The dance music producer and DJ from Sweden was known for his epic dance tracks which include ‘Levels’, ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Hey Brother’.
His US publicist, Diana Baron confirmed the news early this morning with a statement, telling the world:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.”
“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.”
Currently, no cause of the death has been given at this stage and his publicist has said no other statements will be made.
Back in 2016 Avicii retired from music, citing health reasons and later being diagnosed with pancreatitis from excessive drinking. That didn’t stop the music flowing with the producer dropping a new 6 track EP called ‘AvĪci ‘ mid last year with collaborations from AlunaGeorge, Rita Ora and others.
Twitter has exploded with tributes to Avicii from music personalities and his friends
