NOOO: A ‘Riverdale’ Fan Favourite Has Been Recast & Won’t Return For Season Two
We have some upsetting news for fans of ‘Riverdale’, with TV Line reporting that series star Ross Butler will not return as Reggie in season two.
‘Riverdale’ creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TV Line that Butler will not continue as Reggie due to scheduling conflicts and another actor will step into his shoes.
“[Next season], we want more Reggie on our show — he’s Archie’s rival! — and because Ross is unavailable to come back to Riverdale, we’re looking for a new Reggie. Those are big shoes to fill, but we’re confident we can find an actor who is as funny and sexy as Ross,” he said.
Butler is also starring in Netflix’s ’13 Reasons Why’, so it’s assumed he will be dedicating his time to the other popular series. Fans of the teen drama have taken to Twitter to express their mixed emotions about the recasting:
No more Ross Butler on Riverdale ???????????? but at least more new projects to see him on

I can't believe Reggie is being recast for Season 2 of @CW_Riverdale. This breaks my heart, I love @RossButler and I love him as Reggie…

Reggie is a very important Archie Comics character, but even if it takes 4 years I still think it'd be better to wait for Ross to be free.

No way can they recast Reggie on Riverdale. @RossButler is irreplaceable. On the other hand, happy for Ross because he's working, yo! pic.twitter.com/eDjc1OGFmM

Although it’ll be sad to see Butler no longer playing Reggie, we’re excited to see what he has planned next. Things are looking up, as it’s likely a second season of ’13 Reasons Why’ is on the cards.
