A Very Important Investigation Into Whether Sabrina Carpenter And Barry Keoghan Are Dating
I thought Saltburn and Taylor Swift’s Eras tour were taking up as much brain space as possible before this news dropped. And now I can think of nothing else. Not a single brain cell is available for anything other than figuring out if Barry and Sabrina are dating.
For those of you confused about who I’m talking about, let me explain. Barry Keoghan is the lead actor in Saltburn, a movie that is getting a lot of hype right now due to its whacky themes and extra large costar, Jacob Elordi. Sabrina Carpenter is the girlypop opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour and who has dropped bangers like ‘Feather’ that you’ve definitely listened to before.

Before today, I was sure that Barry and Sabrina’s worlds had never overlapped. Barry is an Irish actor on a hectic movie promo schedule. Sabrina is in a new city every night singing her little heart out to stadiums of Swifties. They simply shouldn’t have crossed paths with insane itinaries like that. But then the pair were papped leaving a “romantic” dinner date in LA over the weekend.
Before we all fall head over heels for this new relationship, I will flag that only the Daily Mail is reporting on this at the moment. So, you know, take the ‘news’ with a ladle full of salt. Perhaps they were just exiting an event at the same time? Perhaps they didn’t even realise who they were walking next to? Perhaps they’ve been banging for months? WHO KNOWS.
What I do know, however, is both Barry and Sabrina’s dating history. So imma get into that so we can see if there are any trends/patterns/clues we can spot.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Exes
Darling Sabrina once found herself at the pointy end of a rather famous love triangle. It was a one that spun the Disney Channel into a bit of a tizzy as it involved the lead actors of their TV series High School Musical: The Musical: The Show. Olivia Rodrigo (yep, the now very famous singer) was dating her costar, Joshua Bassett for around a year before they broke up in 2020. Rumours were already swirling that the end of their relationship came about because of another woman, and if people hadn’t tied Sabrina Carpenter to that title before Olivia released her song ‘Drivers License’, they certainly were afterwards.
The song sees Olivia singing, “that blonde girl, who always made me doubt”, “she’s so much older than me, she’s everything I’m insecure about” while referencing being cheated on. While Olivia denies that she wrote it about Sabrina and Joshua, Sabrina was very blonde at the time and is four years older than Olivia. So, of course the internet is convinced it must be about Sabrina regardless of what anyone says.
Since that ‘scandal’ Sabrina has only ever been tied to one other celebrity: Shawn Mendes. Earlier this year it was rumoured the two singers were shacking up. Shawn has denied this claim to the press, but he also famously denied that he was dating Camila Cabello – a lassy he was literally living with and kissing on red carpets.
Barry Keoghan’s Exes
Barry has had less of a star-studded romantic past, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been any less serious with his significant others. His first official girlfriend was Shona Guerin, who he met at the pub he was working at, and the two of them were together for three years.

He was most recently dating dental nurse and orthodontic therapist Alyson Kierans, 35, who he shares a son with. (Side note: they named their son Brando because he loves Marlon Brando so much.) Barry and Alyson broke up in July this year, so technically, yes, he is single and maybe dating, I don’t know… Sabrina Carpenter.
It still seems quite unlikely that the two have hooked up, and more unlikely still that they would ever be able to slot an actual relationship into their schedules right now. But if they could, it would be rather beautiful. I’m ready for a Taylor-and-Travis-esque run-off stage for a snog between Sabrina and Barry.
