For any self-respecting geek, the thought of meeting Gandalf the Grey in the flesh is the ultimate dream. One said geek is Napster creator Sean Parker, who actually offered Sir Ian McKellen $1.5 million dollars (roughly $2 million in Aussie dollarydoos) to officiate his Lord of the Rings themed wedding- dressed as the wizard.

It’s a decent pay cheque for a few minutes stepping back into the rather large shoes of Gandalf, but McKellen declined the offer.

He told Daily Mail:

“I was offered $1.5 million dollars to marry a very famous couple in California, which I would perhaps have considered doing, but I had to go dressed as Gandalf,” McKellen said. “So I said, ‘I am sorry, Gandalf doesn’t do weddings.'”

GANDALF DOESN’T DO WEDDINGS?!

McKellen is currently starring in ‘No Man’s Land’ in London and said he’s not keen on wearing costumes.

“I don’t go dressing up,” McKellen told The Daily Mail. “Except in plays and things at places like this.”

Dream shattered.
