The Soundtrack To ‘Stranger Things’ Is Coming, Set To Give You All Them 80’s Throwback Feels
Netflix’s original series Stranger Things looks set to become the breakout series of 2016. It’s not only addictive AF, but beautifully made. What sets the show apart is not only the story and amazing performances by the cast, but the feeling of nostalgia and throwback to the aesthetics of 1980’s film, achieved in large part by the original music.
The series is scored by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who are a part of the American band S U R V I V E. It’s now been revealed that the soundtrack will be released and split into two volumes.
The first one is to be released on Friday, 12 August, with the CD release will be on 16 September. The second volume is out digitally 19 August, and the CD will be dropped on 23 September.
Stein described their inspiration for the mood of the soundtrack.
“We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn’t ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach,” Michael Stein said.
Isn’t it time we brought back the heyday of the soundtrack?! This looks cracking.
