Sparkly Vampires & Teen Angst Are On The Menu: What We Know About A Twilight Series Resurrection

Good news for twi-hards, we have fresh intel on the possibility that more Twilight movies could be on the cards! The film’s studio Lionsgate have revealed that bringing back the franchise would be a real “possibility” in the future.

Lionsgate’s co-chief Patrick Wachsberger said the films could continue in some form. He told Screen Daily “It’s a possibility. Not a certainty, but it’s a possibility,” he said.

Could we see the return of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as Bella and Edward? Will they once again dominate our screens to silently and longingly stare at one another non-stop, while Stewart looks like she’s about to vom?

Probs not, the exec stressed it was dependent on author Stephenie Meyer.

“It’s about Stephenie. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters, we’re here for her,” he said.

If it went ahead, it’s unlikely that the two leading actors would be returning. Pattinson has said in interviews, he considers himself too old to play a high school student. Yeah… cos that never happens in Hollywood.

The Twilight Saga series grossed $3.3 billion worldwide, and despite Lionsgate trying to start similiar franchises with Ender’s Game, Warm Bodies, Gods of Egypt and The Last Witch Hunter– they failed to get off the ground.

Going back to Twilight with a fresh set of characters might make the most financial sense.
