These Chaotic ‘Splendour In The Grass’ TikToks Give Me The Opposite Of FOMO
Music lovers converged on the North Byron Parklands over the weekend for Splendour in the Grass , and you know what? I reckon it was a bit muddy.
The festival kicked off on Friday after a three-year hiatus due to COVID, however it didn’t get off to the best start. Festival goers arrived Thursday evening but were faced with lengthy delays just to drive into the campsite, which was later changed to a different location due to safety concerns from the hectic weather conditions in the area.
The first day of SITG was cancelled before it had even began, as festival organisers had to pull the plug on all main stage performances. “In the interest of patron safety and in consultation with all relevant emergency services, we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel performances on the main stages today only,” the festival said in a Friday statement.
Before Day 1 was called off, attendees were already worried about the flooded campsites that had turned most of the grounds into a mud bath.

Thankfully, the weekend’s programming went ahead as scheduled, featuring amazing performances from the likes of Jack Harlow, The Strokes, and Tyler, The Creator. Most patrons are returning home Monday morning and godspeed to you all!

And if you thought the mud was bad, the line for the buses to get back to everyone’s accommodation each night looked like a low-key nightmare. On Saturday night, some patrons waited for up to seven hours to get on a bus.
