Feel Like Pure Shit, Just Want To Play ‘Tap Tap Revenge’ Again
Someone please just take me back to 2009.
In terms of gaming, 2020 has seen the launch of a new PlayStation console, a new XBox console, Apple Arcade, and the boom of Twitch streaming and technological advancements in VR.
While this is incredible news for those who love gaming, all this change is making me feel nostalgic and crave the good ol’ days of 2009. The days of the iPhone 3GS and the days of Tap Tap Revenge.
Ah, Tap Tap Revenge, how I miss you.
To refresh your memory, Tap Tap was essentially the Dance Dance Revolution arcade game but on an iPhone. The player would select a song of their choosing, then the game would send coloured balls or arrows to the base of the screen, which the player would need to hit to the beat of the song. Pure genius, honestly.
Confession: Tap Tap is the only game I’ve ever been good at.
I miss this game so much, mainly because it was the only mobile game that I was ever any good at. While all my mates would show me their high scores on Doodle Jump, Temple Run, and Fruit Ninja, I always dedicated my time to Tap Tap Revenge. Plus, it was super fun. I wanted to listen to Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, and the Black Eyed Peas anyway, so it was a no-brainer that I played.
Where did Tap Tap go?
I am sad to report that Tap Tap is no longer on the App Store. As it turns out, two years after the game debuted, its parent company Tapulous was acquired by Disney. Then, after Tap Tap Revenge 2, Tap Tap Revenge 3, and Tap Tap Revenge 4 were released, the CEO of Tapulous officially resigned. Shortly following was an announcement that all the Tap Tap apps would be pulled from the App store and servers would be shut down. How sad.
After 5 awesome years in the app store we are sunsetting Tap Tap Revenge. Head to https://t.co/DLxEEEqOAz for more information.

How can I play Tap Tap now?
I’m sorry to report that it’s actually impossible. That is, of course, unless you have an iPod Touch laying around that you never bothered to update.
However, I should note that there are other knock-offs of the game that you can play, but they — and I can not stress this enough — are not very good. But, they do satisfy the craving.
So, if you feel like a dose of nostalgia, then watch some old gameplay videos or play the Tap Tap knock-offs because my gosh, life was simpler back then.
Speaking of nostalgic music games, we’d also like SingStar back.
