This Teen Went Viral For Giving His Mum The Prom She Never Got To Have

Sometimes teenage boys can be hella sweet – like Joe Moreno who took his mum to his senior prom because she never got to go to hers.

Joe Moreno is an 18-year-old high school senior from Texas. When it was time to find a prom date in keeping with the grand American tradition, Moreno only had one person he wanted to take with him.

In a heart-warming gesture of love and gratitude Joe took his mum to the prom, posting on Twitter that:

“My mom had me at the age of 17 she dropped out of high school to focus on giving me her all. Last night I gave her the prom night she never had.”

The post, accompanied by some adorable Prom pics of Joe and his mum together, has gone viral with nearly 200K likes.

According to Buzzfeed, Joe made the night super special for his mum, helping her pick out her dress and donning her wrist with a corsage – even picking her up just like a gentleman should.

Joe’s mum – Vanessa – spoke to the New York Post about her Prom night, saying:

“Sometimes people don’t know the sacrifices us mothers make. We just hope that it does get seen, and I am so glad my son did see my sacrifice and wanted to give back. It meant the world to me.”

Damn straight Vanessa. Mothers don’t get nearly enough credit for how much of themselves they sacrifice for their families.

Luckily sweet baby Joe seems like a winner of a son. He gushed to Buzzfeed about how much his mum means to him and added that he hopes his viral act of gratitude will do some good.

“Me and my mom didn’t really expect it to go viral. I love my mom with all my heart.” He said. “I hope something that people would take away from the story would be to feel grateful for parents and their sacrifices. Cherish your parents and always make sure to give back.”
