Former Miss Universe Australia Tegan Martin opened up on last night’s episode of ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ about her struggles with body-shaming in the modelling industry.

In particular, the gorgeous blonde told her jungle campmates Lisa Curry, Ash Pollard and Natalie Bassingthwaighte that she was once labelled “too fat” to compete in modelling competition Australia’s Next Top Model.

“The only thing you can do [to launch a modelling career in Australia] is Next Top Model or Miss Universe,” she said.

“I was too fat for Next Top Model. They just said, like, they made out like I was ‘too commercial.’”

While it’s unclear whether the ANTM producers mentioned her weight in auditions, it’s a bloody joke that Martin was made to feel this way.

She confessed she was left with no choice but to enter a beauty pageant, and added that she had always thought of herself as a “curvy” girl and has struggled with her body confidence.

Learning to surf sounded like a good idea at the time ????

“I have always had curves like boobs and a bum … and that’s why when I lived in Paris I had to, like, starve myself to work,” she said.

“It is disgraceful but lucky I am out of that patch now.”

Her revelations left all of the ladies present appalled at Martin’s treatment.

“For an adult, who should know better, to tell a young girl that, I think that is really irresponsible actually,” Curry said.

Damn straight!
