We Did A Deep-Dive Into What All ‘The Bachelor’ Runner-Ups Are Doing Now
There’s absolutely no doubting that The Bachelor has captured the attention of Australia over the last seven years in crazy, all-consuming ways.
And Bach-fever is set to hit an all new high again with season seven premiering sometime soon. Network 10 has been dropping some cheeky promos and it looks like this season is set to deliver the goods once again with lots of drama and hopefully a love story we can all get behind.
But enough about that. While we await the announcement of the new season’s official launch date, we thought we’d look back on the previous seasons… or more specifically the runner-ups who got so close, yet so far.
Here’s what The Bachelor runner-ups are up to now.
Season 1, Tim Robards: Runner-up, Rochelle Emanuel-Smith
Rochelle was left broken-hearted when Tim Robards chose Anna Heinrich as his one true love, but that hasn’t stopped Rochelle from thriving in the modern day.
Her Instagram is one of those feeds that just inspires you to be the best version of yourself, from her vegan treats to her yoga tutorials and the fact she’s even been dancing and singing up a storm while studying at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Honestly, there doesn’t seem like anything she can’t do.
The biggest mystery though? If Rochelle has found love after The Bachelor. But sometimes putting yourself as No. 1 is the best love story after all.
Season 2, Blake Garvey: Runner-up, Lisa Hyde
While we don’t speak his name, it’s safe to say the ladies of BG’s season have recovered very well from whatever hot mess that was.
We were reacquainted with Lisa on the first ever Bachelor In Paradise where she found a brief love with Luke McLeod before things blew up. However, since then Lisa’s focused on her sunglasses range, found love again and is welcoming her daughter with partner Damon very, very soon.
Season 3, Sam Wood: Runner-up, Lana Jeavon-Fellows
Another runner-up turned Yogi, Lana was second to Snezana Markoski (now Wood) on Sam Wood’s season of The Bachelor and was the last-minute intruder that looked set to win the whole damn thing.
Since then Lana appears to be living that influencer life and is now a trained yoga teacher. She’s been in a longterm relationship with partner Jake for the last three years.
Season 4, Richie Strahan: Runner-up, Nikki Gogan
Nikki’s heartbreak is now engrained in Australian TV history. She was the hot favourite to walk away with Richie’s heart, but in the end her brutal dumping even turned the most cold-hearted of people sympathetic.
While Nikki retreated from the spotlight after her time on The Bachelor and seemed content living a very normal life once again (which includes her job of being a real estate agent), people were pretty damn overjoyed when she announced she had found her everlasting happiness with boyfriend Bill.
Season 5, Matty J: Runner-up, Elise Stacy
We all felt for Elise when Matty J had to admit he’d fallen for Laura in the 2017 series of The Bachelor and to her credit, the former Hockeyroo took it amazingly well.
In much better news, Elise seems super happy with partner Justin, and is promoting what appears to be her brand of gift bundles for the conscious consumer over at Something Els.
Season 6, Nick Cummins: Joint winners, Sophie Tieman and Brittany Hockley
Well, we don’t need to relive this moment again, do we?
Brittany and Sophie have taken the shock of last season in their stride and are out there killing it with some cheeky sponcon from time to time. Sophie’s dabbling in YouTube, including sharing her story of the reality of being on The Bachelor.
Meanwhile, Brittany is working as a presenter for Beautiful Minds, an organisation dedicated to changing lives of teens across Australia.
