While we feel blessed to welcome incoming thirst-trap Matt Agnew into our lives in The Bachelor, it turns out we could have met him years ago on The Bachelorette.

The astrophysicist told TV Week that he was almost cast on both Georgia Love and Sophie Monk’s seasons. “I had applied [for The Bachelorette] in the past, but I was busy so I withdrew due to travel commitments and date clashes,” he revealed.

Holy shit.

I might be wildly speculating here but I could see Matt and Sophie totally hitting off. What could have been, huh.

In the same interview, Matt revealed that he has found The One on the show. “I’m in love,” he confessed. “I would be hard-pressed to say I’ve been this happy before – this is me at my happiest.”

He and his special lady are already preparing to start a family together. “It’s the right time. I’m really excited to start that next chapter, which is marriage, kids, starting a family,” he said. “I’d love to be a young dad…It’s something I’m more than happy to get stuck into sooner rather than later.”

Ahead of the series debut, overnight we were gifted a sneak peek of what to expect from the upcoming series with, well, a sneak peek of Matt’s abs.

We ain’t mad about it.

The Bachelor kicks off on 31st of July at 7:30pm on Network Ten.
