I Spoke To Men On Tinder Using Only Space Puns & It Was An Astronomical Success
We’re only a few episodes into The Bachelor but the number of space puns dropped by host Osher Günsberg is already out of control.
This pains me because I hate puns. Puns are just not my kind of humour and space puns are even worse because any talk of astronomy, space or physics sends me right to sleep. Sorry about it.
So in an effort to prove that space puns are the worst, I decided to see how space-themed jokes and pick-up lines would go down on Tinder, taking inspiration from our astrophysicist Bachy, Dr. Matt Agnew.
I regret to inform you that my attempts actually went down a treat. I truly don’t understand men.
In honour of The Bachelor, I spoke to men on Tinder only using space puns:
First up, I had a lot of success. I started out with a bit of romance and then ended with a hilarious pun… that went unnoticed.
It was “sweet.” But hellooooo, that was a solid joke. Anyways, he tried to continue the conversation but the moment had passed.
Next up, I eased in with a bit of flirting before going for confusing sexual innuendos. All of my messages seemed to go down a little too well.
I should note that while I had a lot of success, not all of my attempts got responses.
Here are two messages that didn’t even get replies. Rude!
I was pretty proud of this one:
This next fella kept trying to drag normal conversation out of me. Never! I speak only in space puns! I don’t make the rules! My editor does!!
‘Cosmos of it’, like… ‘the most of it.’ Get it? Right?! Ugh, he did not compute and eventually unmatched after I failed to reply. Either way, he held out for a long time of me talking nonsense. Men are strange creatures.
You can see I had a lot of fun with this next bloke:
I was so proud of myself. Again, he tried to speak normally to me, asking me meaningful questions. Sorry friend, I was not here for that.
I ended my challenge with this guy who would just not take ‘no’ for an answer and was keen to meet for a date.
This is basically what women face on dating apps every damn day, and tbh I really did need space.
No pun intended.
