She was positioned as ‘the one that got away’, but returning contestant Jamie-Lee Dayz has gone surprisingly under-the-radar on this season’s The Bachelorette.

The 30-year-old counselling student and venue manager from New South Wales is no stranger to the world of reality TV. Jamie-Lee appeared as an intruder on Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins’ season of The Bachelor, which is where she first met Brooke Blurton.

“There were so many times in the mansion where I would want to sneak over to your bed, but I just didn’t know,” Jamie-Lee told Brooke on The Bachelorette premiere. “It was scary because if I had put my feelings out there and you ended up with Nick, then I would’ve lost you as a friend.”

Interestingly, Jamie-Lee denied any romantic connection to Brooke after their season aired. She told Mamamia at the time that “Just because there are two, I’m going to use the term bisexual, just because there are two bisexual girls in one room doesn’t mean that they’re automatically dating,” she said.

“It’s a shame to see that as a society that’s the outcome we come to, just because there are two people who have similarities. It kind of sucks. It’s definitely not true. I have a lot of love for Brooke and she’s such a legend but we’re definitely just friends.”

Jamie-Lee and Brooke have maintained that they were just friends in the mansion and in the following years, but both agree there was an “unspoken”  spark between them.

According to Jamie-Lee’s bio, she saw Brooke doing Bachy as a second chance for them. “I applied when I saw Brooke was The Bachelorette. I believe we had a connection when we were in the house together on The Bachelor.” She said she joined the show as she is ready to settle down with the right person. “I’m ready for my next relationship to be my last,” Jamie-Lee said.

“I want to find that one person I can do life with and raise a family with. I’m ready for commitment.”

Jamie-Lee has been in love before and still holds fond memories of her ex. “My last relationship was incredibly loving and supportive. Even though she wasn’t ‘the one’, I experienced true love, and it’s taught me who I am, what I want, and how to be the best partner I can be.” Jamie-Lee says she can offer her potential partner resilience, support, and to not give up when things get tough. “I recognise that in a relationship, there are days and weeks where things get mundane, and life gets in the way,” she said.

“I am open-minded and always willing to learn and better myself.”

The Bachelorette airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm on Channel 10.
