The Bachelors is back and looser than ever. But in the wise words of Marie Kondo, I love mess!

The premiere on Monday night introduced a reality dating show drastically different to The Bachelor we’ve known since it first debuted in 2013. Gone are the days of the routine of the first episode red carpet arrivals, bid goodbye to the quirky contestant introductions, and say farewell to the formal cocktail parties.

In its place is a refreshing new take on The Bachelor, err well, The Bachelors. Yep, we have three of ’em and we met them all last night. And if I’m being brutally honest, I don’t know if they’re all my cup of tea. But that’s kind of the beauty of this season: there’s a Bachelor to cater to every taste.

Firstly, we have Jed: a man who acts like he’s never been rejected in his life which became awkward when he was dumped during his first date. That’s right, fam. The ladies are making moves! Then there’s Felix, a human labradoodle who is just happy to be here.

The closest we have to a traditional Bachelor is Thomas, our Italian heartthrob. Thomas ticks a lot of boxes: he’s got an accent, he’s mature, he’s ready to find love and settle down, plus he’s comfortable expressing his emotions. In one scene, Thomas started to sob after sharing some major sparks with suitor, Leah.

There’s nothing a stan more than a crying man. Along with a rare sighting of a man expressing emotion, the premiere also saw a massive shakeup of how the men choose their top contenders. Instead of basing their top 20 on a few brief interactions, the three Bachelors actually had first dates with all the women and gave roses to the ladies who would be invited to the revamped Gold Coast Bachy mansion.

Let’s jump into last night’s episode by recapping it via the funniest tweets!

The Bachelors is here and we’re all a little confused! Osher gave Jed, Felix and Thomas engagement rings and then suddenly we’re on dates with the three men’s potential top contenders.

We’re quickly introduced to Felix, Thomas, and Jed. Jed talks about struggling with dating women when he was younger because umm… he’s a drummer.

On Jed’s first date, he is rejected by Catelyn. He doesn’t take it well.

Felix has a NSFW body-painting date with Krystal, while Thomas went on a string of painfully awkward dates which he had to reject.

Jed was so hurt by his rejection that he simply refused to give any roses out on any dates.

Felix was smitten with Tilly while Jed was finally interested in someone: Angela. Thomas hit it off with Leah and was left in tears over their connection. Aww!

Jed’s final date, Tash, arrived with dogs in a stroller. She’s bonkers and we love her.

Felix had his last date with Abigail, a cat lady who brought her fur baby Minnie with her. Felix and Abigail hit it off but he had already used all his roses so he hit up Jed to steal his last rose.

The episode concluded at a cocktail party, as the girls arrived at the brand new Bachy mansion on the Gold Coast. Everyone was confused over why there was so many women and why they had all dated different men. Lmao.

Strap in fam, we’re in for a rocky ride!

The Bachelors returns tonight at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
