Rachel And Sarah-Jane From ‘The Block’ Have Savaged Omar And Oz’s House
The Block besties Rachel Carr and Sarah-Jane Calleja just dished some juicy secrets about the record-breaking auction last year. Apparently, Sarah-Jane never expected Omar and Oz to walk away as winners of the renovation show.
If you totally missed last year’s season, here’s what went down: Omar and Oz won after earning almost 1.6 million dollars in profit, and took home the $100,000 prize. Tom and Sarah-Jane walked away with just $20,000 in profit, while the remaining three houses were passed in.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom, because Rachel and Ryan and Sharon and Ankur made around $170,000 in profit during post-auction deals. At the bottom end, Dylan and Jenny didn’t sell their property until February this year, and it’s believed they walked away with zero profit. That’s gotta hurt, after toiling away on a building site for three months.
Anyway, Sarah-Jane has finally piped up about the disastrous auction on her podcast with Rachel, I Just Can’t.
“[Omar and Oz] go in first and come out with 1.6 million dollars. Did you think we were all going to come out with that amount of money?” Rachel asked Sarah-Jane.
“No. Because the boys were the only two with two registered bidders,” Sarah-Jane replied. “The only reason it went up so high is because you had two huge egos… two huge millionaires pumping it out.”
“People always ask me about the auction, but I’ve never really spoken about it because I don’t need to justify shit to anybody… no one thought [their house] was going to win. I personally didn’t think it was the best house, and that’s not throwing shade, that was my opinion the entire time.”

Sarah-Jane also said that Omar and Oz only had two registered bidders, so the pair’s house had to be auctioned off first.
Could these feelings have impacted the friendships between The Block competitors? Let’s look at the facts: last year’s Block cast seems to be relatively close, with the exception of one duo… Omar and Oz. In March, the rest of the cast reunited at Dylan and Jenny’s wedding, with the four couples posing for photos together on Hope Island in Queensland.
