The Simpsons Subtly Pay Tribute To Paris Attack Victims In Their Latest Episode
The latest episode of The Simpsons, which aired in the US yesterday (Aus time), included a subtle tribute to those killed and injured in the devastating Paris attacks.
The message appeared halfway through the episode titled ‘Lisa with an ‘S’ and came in the form of a Broadway sign.
The storyline followed Lisa Simpson’s acting ambitions and a journey with a mentor who happened to be a Broadway legend. The pair travelled to New York City where a montage of Broadway production signs flashed up on screen.
One of those signs promoted a French show titled “Lafayette” and featured the art of Jean Jullien, whose iconic Eiffel Tower/peace sign has become a symbol of solidarity after the attacks. It was an understated and classy way to pay respect and show solidarity with France.
The team behind The Simpsons have made similar tributes in the past, including ending an episode in January with a mark of respect for victims of the Charlie Hebdo attacks (pictured).
