All The Best Secrets And Easter Eggs In ‘The Sims’

Brought to you by EA Games

Play with life. Only in 'The Sims 4'

One of the most satisfying things to do in The Sims (besides spamming “rosebud” and removing the pool ladder) is finding all the secrets hidden by devs.

The games are packed with funny easter eggs and references that are a thrill to discover. There are so many that even after playing for hundreds of hours – which we’ve all done, right? – we probably haven’t found them all.

It’s time to change that.

We found the best secrets and easter eggs in The Sims so you can check them out for yourself the next time you play.

#1 The New Girl roommates

If you’ve ever wanted to live with Jess, Nick, Schmidt, and Winston, you’re in luck, because they’re in The Sims 4 as the Roomie Family.

They’ve got new names, but the perky Zoe, easy-going Mitchell, uptight ladies’ man J, and intellectual Gavin are pretty clearly designed after our favourite sitcom household.

Don’t mind us, we’ll just be here making up Simlish rules for True American.

#2 Cheating death

The Sims Grim Reaper

When a Sim dies, the Grim Reaper appears to whisk them away to the afterlife. But if you’ve grown attached to your little digital family, you can persuade the Reaper to spare their life with the Death Flower.

Of course, you can also take the opportunity to flirt with the Grim Reaper and start a budding romance with the spooky bad boy.

#3 The Tragic Clown

One of the items you can decorate your house with is the Tragic Clown painting. In The Sims 4, making a Sim view the painting will immediately make them burst into tears, and soon the clown will appear to try to cheer them up.

It doesn’t go well. The Tragic Clown is, famously, tragic, so his attempts to juggle and tell jokes backfire and make your Sim even more miserable.

The only way to get rid of him is to sell the painting. Really, it’s your own fault for looking at a painting of a clown and thinking, “Yes, this will really tie my lounge room together”.

#4 Simlish song covers

The Sims loves covering pop songs in Simlish and the results are best described as “wild”.

You’ve probably seen the video of Katy Perry recording ‘Last Friday Night’ in Simlish, but did you know that Mallrat, Paramore, Carly Rae Jespen, Violent Soho, Jessica Mauboy, Gordi, and The Veronicas have also redone their songs for The Sims?

If you didn’t have a Simlish song in your Spotify Wrapped, you’re wrong and I hate you.

#5 Baby Yoda

Baby Yoda is just about the cutest thing to ever exist, so of course you can find him in The Sims 4.

He’s available as a statue from buy mode. Officially, it’s called “The Child Statue” but he’ll also show up if you search for “Baby Yoda”. No word yet on whether searching for “Grogu” also works.

#6 Travel to secret worlds

Oh, to yeet ourselves into a fantasy world instead of living through the remaining 87 years of 2020. I’m not only talking about playing The Sims, but specifically escaping into the games’ secret lots.

There are six hidden lots in The Sims 4 and its expansions that you can get to by interacting with certain objects. Once inside, you can find rare items, meet aliens, and even learn magic.

#7 The cowplant

The cowplant is a carnivorous plant with the head of a cow.

Why would you want a plant that eats Sims? Because every time it does, it gives you a potion that makes your Sim happy and adds extra days onto their life.

The easiest way to grow it in The Sims 4 is by fishing the cowplant berry out of the water in the Oasis Springs secret lot. Then throw a party and let your bovine plant gobble up unsuspecting guests for a never-ending supply of life potions.

#8 Cats on roombas

Cats shed fur. Vacuums suck up fur. Cats love sitting on things.

Therefore, if you buy the robot vacuum in The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs expansion, your cat will ride around on it as it cleans your house.

#9 Duck puddles

Tired: cleaning up after your Sim spills water.

Wired: turning the puddle into a cute duck.

The next time your Sim finds a puddle on the floor, use the recolour tool in build mode to change its shape. You, uh, should still mop it up later though.

#10 The Grilled Cheese aspiration

A Sim who eats three plates of grilled cheese sandwiches in a row gets the secret Grilled Cheese aspiration. They only care about making, serving, and eating grilled cheese sandwiches. The only thing they fear is burning their sandwiches or eating a bad sandwich.

Huge mood.
