Love Is Blind fans, rejoice! A new US dating show has dropped on Netflix with a similar vibe: The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.

However, while the comparatively wholesome Love Is Blind revolves around a bunch of single people who become engaged to strangers before meeting in person, the premise of The Ultimatum is, err… rather cooked!

The series features couples who are struggling to agree on whether to get married swap partners with other couples on the show. And when we say “swap partners”, they actually live with them and, in some cases, even engage in sexual activities with their part-time spouses. The show’s format basically permits unapologetic cheating — it’s wild.

The first eight episodes dropped on Netflix introduced the couples, saw them couple-swap, move in together, then go back to their original partner before making their big decision. The purpose is for each person to decide if they are ready for marriage with their original partner, or if they want to breakup or even start dating the new person they met on the show.

The stakes are extremely high, which makes this show truly enthralling — like we are watching intimate scenes play out that we shouldn’t be seeing. At one stage, a couple even breaks up on camera.

Like any reality show, some heroes and villains have emerged. April has amassed a following for her blunt delivery, while contestants like Alexis and Madlyn have found themselves struggling to find much love online.

Alexis’ debut on the show saw her become enraged when another contestant, Colby, said he wasn’t attracted to her, before she became engaged to the guy she had given the ultimatum to mere days earlier. Whereas, Madlyn was just an extremely messy person: she spent the entire season acting like she despised her original partner, Colby, while she bragged nonstop about her new partner, Randall, in front of his ex-girlfriend Shanique.

The episodes ended with the couples about to make their decisions — some appear to be stronger than ever, but most look set to crumble under the pressure of the show. With the first eight episodes on Netflix, the big finale and reunion special will drop on April 13.
